State and businesses ramp up efforts to supply and use natural gas in vehicles

Love's Travel Stops and OnCue Express are expanding access to compressed natural gas filling stations in Oklahoma this year. Scott Minton, CNG market development manager for OnCue, says the company currently has 14 stations in Oklahoma, seven of which are not located at a retail store. Love's has 12 stations in the state, and the 13th should open sometime this summer.

Minton says OnCue is also in talks with other retailers to form CNG partnerships, giving OkLahomans even more access to CNG stations.

"When we first started talking about this, the plan was to build 7-10 CNG stations every year for the remainder of this decade," Minton says. "Now, we're saying 10-12, so it's safe to say that we'll build 7-12 stores per year through this decade."

Bill Cashmareck, general manager of natural gas for Love's, says the next store opening in Oklahoma will be the Love's Travel Stop at Interstate 40 and Choctaw Road. The store has been there for many years but had to be rebuilt after it was destroyed by a tornado in 2010.
